Story Line of our Music Video

The story line of our music video is based on a girl who is singing a song about her love for he other half, how he is like therapy to her and cant live without him. During the video, you'll see an intervention of both the girl and the boy as ''flashbacks'' of moments of their relationship which link in to the music.

The ''flashbacks'' effect will be put in to black and white to 1) make it stand out from the rest of film 2) it gives it a edge to it 3) referring into music video's or films flashbacks or past events tend to usually be in black and white.

We will also be interpretating the use of sepia colouring within some sections of the film.

How my survey is going to impact on the Music Video?

The results I have received from my audience that completed my survey that i had posted to them, is significantly and positively going to have an effect on my music video. The music video was already originally going to be aimed at the female public eye and looking at the results of the survey it definetly is as the majority of the female audience for the survey was a very high number of 80%.  80% of my audience liked the R'n'B genre of the music industry and 20% didn't actually like this genre, which means the small 20% that did not like the genre, we are going to have to work that 110% harder to making them change their original opinions of not liking this genre and maybe this music video might change that hopefully. The large number of 80% who do like this genre are a good advantage for us as now at least we know that we have a good number of people who do like this genre so they will take an interest on this, and now we will know who are target is for our music video of *Therapy* which will be R'n'B lovers.
As said before, an artist other than Rihanna that we have been taking particular interest and research in to is Beyonce Knowles, who I have been watching her music video's and taking notes on the type of things she does within her music video which are based on love and affection just like our music video. All of the audience did love or like her music video's which will have an affect on our music video because now that we know we have an audience who like Beyonce's video we can now take some influences from her videos and input them in to our one. On asking the audience what they would expect to see in a love song music video which is what our music video is about, is giving the advantage of now knowing what the audience are expecting and wanting from us doing this video, so now we know what they are expecting and we can know put this in to our video for our target audience.

Survey Analysis Results

I recently done a survey on surveymonkey.com questioning the public and audience on the R'n'B genre and what type of expectations they had for a music video within that genre.  Here are screen grabs of my results that i have recieved :

The first questions on my survey was asking the audience what gender they were and looking on my results, 80% of my audience were females and only a small amount of 20% of then audience were of the male gender.

A 100% of my audience all watch music videos, when the question was asking them whether they watch music videos or not. Music is a huge contraversal impact on the younger generation which was the audience who was completing my survey that i had done.

The next question on my survey was introducing the genre of my planned music video which was the R'n'B genre, again only 20% of my audience didn't like the R'n'B genre and 80% of the audience did indeed like the R'n'B genre of music, which is a plus for me and my group members as we have chosen a song within this genre. The fourth question was asking the public about a music video close to our music video Beyonce - Halo. Out of all the answers i gave the public i am pleased to see that they have only chosen ' Brilliant and Good' as their answers and not 'decent or boring'. 70% of the public chose good and 30% chose the Brilliant answer.

The fifth question on my survey was asking the public whether they liked Beyonce's love songs, i chose this question because Beyonce is a close participant within researching on artists in the R'n'B genre so i wanted to know what the public thought of Beyonce as we will be using her as a research method and influence for our music video. 60% love her music video and 40% like her music which is a good results for us.

The last question the question asking the audience their expectations of what they would expect to see within a love song music video, a brilliant 90% chose Affection, love, kissing etc. as an answer which is good as this is what we will putting in our music video, and 40% chose singing in to the camera.

Filming Schedule

This is my filming schedule for myself and my other group members, we are hoping that this schedule will help benefit our filming and give us more of a organised approach to our filming. This way we know who's filming what, who will present and who will be absent. We are going to use this schedule but if necesarry we are going to film outside the schedule to get more filming done even if we don't use it were going to need to have the most amount of filming we can.

Copyright Information

WHAT IS COPYRIGHT?
Here is definition I've got off wikipedia:
" Copyright is a legal concept, enacted by most governments, giving the creator of an original work exclusive rights to it, usually for a limited time. Generally, it is "the right to copy", but also gives the copyright holder the right to be credited for the work, to determine who may adapt the work to other forms, who may perform the work, who may financially benefit from it, and other related rights. It is an intellectual property form (like the patent, the trademark, and the trade secret) applicable to any expressible form of an idea or information that is substantive and discrete."
Looking at this definition from the internet, Copyright basically protects the use of someones ideas, for example someones lyrics, writing of their own piece of work etc, Just like a music video it can be protected by copyright.
Copyright is owned by the creator of the piece of work, music, writing etc. s normally owned by the creator of the work, e.g. an author, composer, artist, photographer etc. Seeing as i have done a thriller video last year, i have used copyright before i do know the ins and outs of copyright and what you are allowed and not allowed to do to someones piece of work. So before starting or even thinking about what were going to do for our music video, we knew that it was important to gain the writers copyright approval before using it in anyway possible.

My Favourite Digipak 'www.coverdude.com'

On the Cover dude website, i looked through all of different artists digipak's that i found that had caught my eye and i found attractive. Rihanna's LOUD  8 page album cover completely stood out for me and was most definitely my favourite out of all of them. It stands out by far, and has a continuous colour range on each cover within the didgipak being red. The photos are very dramatic and beautiful, which is definitely something i am going to take in to context and memory when we are creating ours.

CoverDude Digipaks

To learn more information and more detail about what a didgipak is and what digipaks actually look like, i have been given a website to look on to to go into more depth on digipaks called 'www.coverdude.com'. During the making of our music video for this assignment, we will also be making a digipak for me and my group members for our 'group' for our CD of our music to be packaged inside.

A didgipak is usually linked to the general theme or idea of the song/album and would have features on the song on the CD, for examples pictures from the video and inside of the case, lyrics to the songs. Lyrics is usually provided within album covers.

A didgipak for groups are the bit about that should be appealing and drawing the audience in. It gives the people who make the music a chance to give an edge about their digipak and stand out from other ones made. To produce a good didgipak, me and my fellow group members are going to have to grasp as much information as possible about didgipak to produce a good one and stand out from other ones, which this website 'Coverdude.com' does.

Within a Digipak

There are many different things that need to be included within a digipak for them to be sold to the public and attract the audience in and them to be appealing to the audience:

  • Barcode
  • Artist name
  • Albumn/CD name
  • Picture
  • Track list
  • Label name
  • Label sign

Didgipak

Here is an internet definition of the word 'Didgipak' :
Digipak's typically consist of a gatefold (book-style) paperboard or card stock outer binding, with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside. Since Digipaks were among the first alternatives to jewel cases to be used by major record companies, and because there is no other common name for Digipak-style packaging made by other companies, the term digipak or Digi-Pakis often used generically, even when the media holder is a hub or "Soft Spot" rather than a full plastic tray.

Corrine Vielle - Therapy Audio

Research on artists

After some research, we were looking for artist that have the type of effect and link we are looking for that somehow links with our song 'Therapy - Corrine Vielle'. I personally think that the artist that does so, is Keri Hilson. She is a well known R'n'B artist who does songs similar to Corrine Vielle's song Therapy, it has a slow, yet funky effect with it.

Keri Hilson - Slow Dance.

Corrine Vielle - Therapy Lyrics

We've been together for a while
As Love accumulates / I know this is fate
Intensely I adore you / attracted I am to you
this is no mistake / you're my soulmate
Yes, I confess / that i'd be a mess if you ever left
I can't get enough / comsumed by your touch
i know that this is love
so what i gotta do / to prove my love is true
tell me right now i'll do anything for you cause

Chorus
You're my everything everything
you're my remedy my therapy
you're the flame that heats my soul and your love is like a miracle

Verse 2
Even when i told you to leave me alone
you always stayed close and you never let go
and i just wanna tell you I love your whole attitude
nothing really bothers you / you always keep it real
i got your back if you got my back
yeah you know i'm that deal
there's no question, no calculation, this is how i feel
I love every minute, every second, everyday
and if you go away i'll probably go insane cause

Chorus
You're my everything everything
you're my remedy my therapy
you're the flame that heats my soul and your love is like a miracle

Bridge
Your love is like a dream, i'm imagining with you
and i'm thankful / i'm grateful i found you
i don't know if i can find the words to say
to make you understand that i am in love

Chorus
You're my everything everything
you're my remedy my therapy
you're the flame that heats my soul and your love is like a miracle

Change of Music

Due to some difficulty with our chosen song 'Thicke - Heartbeat', me and my fellow group members have decided to make a change to our music as we need to start recording very soon. After messaging Thicke's manangement, we were awaiting on a reply from them to confirm whether they would send us a mp3 version of their song on the www.unsigned.com website. But after a week or so of waiting, we decided that we didnt have to time to sit around and wait for the agency to reply so we change our music.

We have now decided to use 'Therapy by Corrine Vielle'.

James Thraves Case Study

During class, we looked a the case study based on Jamie Thraves, we found informatin about Jamie Thraves himself. Thraves was known for being a Director and made short films whilst being at university. 3. The stage is unpaid statergy, no pay is recieved.
  4. The Director who has submitted the best treatment about the track is commissioned to make then music video.
  5. The 'Director' is then paid.
RADIOHEAD - JUST
