The Process of making the magazine advert

We decided for our magazine advert we wanted to use the same image used for the front cover of our digipak as we wanted to help the audience recognise what our album cover would look like so when they see the magazine advert they would remember what that and once they've seen the digipak they would then know what it looks like.




In the process of making the magazine advert, we transferred this image into black and white again because i feel that the black and white image is a significance within our whole theme, music video and digipak so keeping this feel to our magazine advert would be necessary. 
We done plenty of magazine analysis and decided what sort of information we need to have on our magazine advert which would be :


  1. The artist name - this is vital because this shows the audience who the artist is
  2. The albums name - the audience need to remember what the name of the album is to purchase it
  3. Availability - where the album will be available e.g. HMV, ITunes
  4. Release date - the date they can purchase it
  5. Website - the artist or artists management website
  6. Stars - what other magazines or newspaper have rated the album

This is a screen shot in the process of making our magazine advert, showing the layers used for the different things that were going on when using Photoshop, e.g. Changing to black and white, Adding text, editing the lip colour etc. 


This screen shot is showing on photo shop adding the text on to the image. This text box was of when we were adding the newspaper article ranking of the album using these stars. 







We added the HMV AND iTunes logo signifying the availability of the album on both of the music records website and shops. 
On our magazine advert, in big bold letter we dated the release date with both HMV and iTunes logo at the both sides of them showing their available on there.

DIGIPAK INSIDE


DIGIPAK BACK COVER


This is the back cover of our Didgipak, we decided to use the same kind of effect and vibe used on the front cover on the black with the black and white effect and editing of the lips to make them stand out red. We've added our songs on the didgipak album on the back rather on the inside of the digipak. We've used 10 other songs on the album so its an even number and we've named the songs having a similar sense as the song Therapy our music video, the songs on here are all love like or female basis.

Expanding and increasing sales and audiences - Research/Proposal

The purpose of a making the perfect music video is so that we not beneficial for the artist but to increase sales for themselves as an upcoming artist and to make a connection to their target audience. This is why i think its a good idea that as a group we look in to researching the best possible way to understand in more depth what type of audience response we want and what we want to do help expand sales if this was a actual music video trying to expand and increase sales and audiences.
The audience that we are planning to interact with is definetly the girl range, as the Corinne Vielle Therapy song is about love, a girl loving their partner and needing them in their life so this is obviously going to have a large connection with a lot of females. A well known world wide artist who interacts very well, influences and has increased and expanded her sales as an artist over the last couple of years is Rihanna, the R'n'B artist who we are looking at in detail in particular.
When Rihanna first come about on the scene as a new artist she had a normal look that was a innocent looking new girl from the block kind of look, if you look at 'Girl like Me' 2006 album cover the target audience for her was pretty obvious. She was fresh faced, innocent and trying to attact the younger girls and boys generation i believe. Just like with our music video, we are to have to do the right things to expand and increase sales. Over the years, Rihannas album covers and music videos have changed and changed drastically which is obviously due to her wanting to exapand her audience and fan base.



The changes in her appearence in both her music videos and album covers are clear to see. Its almost asif as the years have gone on, as shes getting older shes wanting an album audience. She went from fresh faced to a bad reckless women kind of look, this is obviosuly to increase sales and bring a differnt audience in to increase sales for her as an artist.

This is a screen shot from one her first music videos and the last image is another screen shot from one of her most recent music videos released which demonstrates how shes changed to create and expand sales and audienes which is a technique that us as a group and for our music video and also our digipak we will have to look in to and research even more to make sure that we are aiming it at the right audience and expanmd and increase sales.

Magazine advert Analysis

RIHANNA
Rihanna's RATED R album, has this magazine advert. This magazine is similar to ours as its completely black and white which is the influence we used for our magazine advert and i think that that was a good point as the effect that Rihanna has used, is what we wanted too. The Fallacy of this magazine advert is that there is no release date title on here indicating that theres no information for the audience to use to show where they can purchase it. It does indeed have the name of the artist and and album name on it which is vitally important. The pose Rihanna is using gives it a intimidating kind of feel to it which is significantly good and well thought as her album name is RATED R which gives it a adult, intimidating feel just by the album name itself so it just goes to how the pose and album name can link together just like what we want to do with ours. Rihanna's target audience obviously is going to be older teenagers/adults, just by the look of the magazine advert. The font and image all falls in to place together which is a plus for the magazine advert which shows that for a magazine advert everything has got to match the only faulty about this is that there is no detail of a release date.



GWEN STEFANI
Gwen Stefani's magazine advert here stands out clearly with its bold colours and large font writing. The weird yet clever thing about this album cover is the fact that the album cover includes the album on the front even though the magazine advert is indeed the album cover itself anyway.  It obviously shows the indication of who her target audience is which is seems to be females due to the "LOVE. ANGEL. MUSIC. BABY" title. I don't see any information of a release date included on this or a rating or opinion of the album itself's on here but it still includes a website on there. 

Magazin Advert Comparison

Comparing our Magazine advert to another magazine advert you can see the influence and comparison. Our magazine advert includes the artist, album name, star ranking, opinion from another newspaper, website, release and availability. All key points to a magazine advert which is why they are featured on our magazine advert. Looking at Rihanna's LOUD magazine advert, you disadvantage of things you don't see on her magazine advert is that there is no other magazine or newspaper article opinion on the album itself or star rating of it. It does include the name of the album and the release date but no availability note to show the audience to where it will be available from. 

DIDGIPAK


Here is my DIGIPAK cover. i LOVE it, after alot of inspiration from other artists didgipak cover it helped influence what we wanted to use for our didgipak cover. I suggested to my group members what it would be a good idea to use black and white and to emphasise Amanda's lips to edit this on photoshop to create the red lip effect just like Rihanna did to her didgipak who is the artist who i have been taking a great interest in for influential ideas for out Didgipak.

Analysis of Another Students "Digipak,Magazine advert and Music Video"

MAGAZINE ADVERT  
This is a previos students Magazine advert that they have created for their music video. My thoughts annitional thoughts of this magazine advert is that the music video is going to be quite glum and indie rockish, only beacuse of the tree and the tree reminds me of nature. My opinion of this digipak is that i think its brilliant and its not too much going on all over the place but very simple yet suttle which is what makes it so good. The tree cut out and image underneath is a good idea which must mean it has something to do with their video as it has 'STILL NIGHT, STILL LIGHT' on it with lights underneath the tree cutout. AU REVIOUR SIMONE gives a sad or ending kind of feeling to it as AU REVIOUR means good bye in French. The colours used for the magazine advert is a natural kind of colour like nature which goes with the tree image in the middle of the Digipak which is yet again a good idea. In the bottom right hand corner they've given the release date to the public stating that its been released and is available in HMV now which is vital to let the audience when the release date is. In little print at the bottom, i believe to be their own website and another website also which is what we are going to do for our magazine advert too, it kinds an audience to look up more on these websites if they want too. They've given themselves a 5* from the NME which I think is a Indie music website or magazine addition, the fact that they've themselves 5 out of 5 stars is showing a great deal of confidence and showing the audience that they've been given these 5 stars from the NME's which obviously will draw and expand even more of an audience in.

DIGIPAK


This is their Digipak, they have used the same colour used for their magazine advert for their digipak which is an idea that we could use for Digipak ourselves,. Its a good idea because people who want to buy the album known the colour scheme, gives off the same impact on both digipak and magazine advert.  At the bottom section of the Digipak where the CD selection bit is, they've used the nature, tree influence they used on their magazine advert again.


Blackberry Contacts

Not only did I upload the link and video of Therapy on to my Facebook but i also sent the link to my music video to some of my private blackberry phone messanger contacts for those who don't have Facebook to watch. Here is the screen grab of me asking them to watch the video.

DIGIPAK EDITING

On our Digipak we at first had some trouble with adding a bar code on to the Didgipak but we soon understood what we needed to do to add the bar code on there. On photoshop we added another blank layer over the top of the Digipak then added to bar code on to this layer which is when we placed the bar code in its right position.

Music upload on to My Facebook Account!

After completing our music video, i uploaded the music video on to my facebook account to see what kind of feedback or what people would think of the music video. I got different likes to the music video, people said that the song is very catchy and the music video fits the song perfect which is exactly the kind of feedback response we wanted to hear as a group.
Myself, theresa and amanda are very pleased with the music video.

After lots of hard work and dedication our music video is finally complete! Thanks to myself, theresa and amandas contribute. Im very happy with the outcome of our video, as i do think we have put in so much hard work to the video and its been uploaded on to my youtube account for people to view it.
