James Thraves Case Study

During class, we looked a the case study based on Jamie Thraves, we found informatin about Jamie Thraves himself. Thraves was known for being a Director and made short films whilst being at university. Thraves used award winning short films as a 'Calling Card' to get a foot in the door with the video production company 'Factory Films'. He began shooting three low budget music video which would usually cost about £5000. 

Jamie Thraves TIPS. 
  1. A Commissioner from  record label sends a track to 5 to 10 directors.
  2. The directors then each submit a treatment of there own.
  3. The stage is unpaid statergy, no pay is recieved.
  4. The Director who has submitted the best treatment about the track is commissioned to make then music video.
  5. The 'Director' is then paid.
RADIOHEAD - JUST
This had a budget of £100,000
    This music video was on a budget of just £100,000 and was actually shot within 3 days which isn't a considerably long time to make a music video. 

COLDPLAY - SCIENTIST




This music video was on a low budget of £200,000 and was also like Radiohead shot in just 3 days.

  • Currently videos costs about £20,000
  • Shooting Time - 2days
  • Jamie has used the music videos to get in the film buisness.
  • Has so far shot three features: The Low down, The Cry of the Owl and Treacle Junior.
